Beatles Abbey Road GrooveBowl, The
$60.00
Sold Out
In months of searching for an acceptable copy of Abbey Road to create a GrooveBowl, this is only the second time I find one of these extremely rare collectables.
Rolling Stone magazine has named it the 14th greatest album of all time and now OddBob has found another one-in-a-million album: the fabled and fabulous Abbey Road by the Beatles.
It was released in 1969 in the midst of the Beatles' slow dissolution, and the band later stated they knew at the the time that Abbey Road would very likely be their final work together and therefore agreed to set aside their differences and 'go out on a high note'.
An amazing high note it has remained through the decades.
The Abbey Road cover is one of the most famous and most imitated album covers in history. The zebra crossing today remains a popular destination for Beatles fans, there's even an Abbey Road webcam. The Volkswagen Beetle parked on the left side of the street belonged to one of the tenants living in an apartment across from the crossing. After the release of the album, the VW's license plate was repeatedly stolen. The car is currently on display at the Volkswagen museum in Wolfsburg, Germany.
Having been played to death, this legendary album finds a second life as a GrooveBowl: 4 inches high and all perfectly curvy, it rests on 3 clear rubber feet, the spindle hole has been capped and the labels lacquered.
Comes with the original album cover in a 12 3\/4 x 12 3\/4 by 4 3\/4 inch corrugated paperboard box, so it's ready to be shipped as a gift. We'll even add a note conveying your best wishes.
Keep the Groove Bowl away from liquids and messy foods. It's not microwave or dishwasher safe, so please treat it with the same respect the old folks gave their records.
But you CAN use your GrooveBowl for so many other things. But it's so very handsome as it is, you might not want to dress it up.
